Posted by Anung Waskito On November - 21 - 2009

Many incoming message asking me about the new apps paypal wishlist.
Before you ask more, please READ the TERMS AND CONDITION on the apps. It’s all there (http://apps.facebook.com/paypalwishlist/tnc.php)

Q: What is this??
A: Paypal promotion strategy, giving away paypal credit for every installation and referral.

Q: Is this real / scam?
A: I don’t know, I only know that this application is an official one linked from the www.paypal.com site the full link is here

https://www.paypal.com/id/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_mpi-click-outside&uid=&cid=5330&oid=20256&bn=AjYsXGN-AwIQBgQUWBQBSiY6JA8&s=EDQpJRx4MlRJQFRBHERbNVtneRJyYTELOB0FMA4hGQEBDjQsagJ4bCsCO2cEOw&landing_url=ORAcFnkYQhEOB0MATAwdCwIiIBktPQcxAmcqADQ

Q: When do we get paid?
A: I don’t know, But at the terms and condition they stated: “Prizes will be credited to your PayPal account as per your submission to PayPal via the PayPal WishList, no later than February 28th, 2010″

Q: How you become top earner?
A: I assume it’s because I’m one of the early adopter in Indonesia and share this information to many of my friends. They forward it to their friends and so on, and the information i gave is a full link referred to my apps (http://apps.facebook.com/paypalwishlist/?ppref=622373960&ref=mf). So I guess that’s why I get to the top earner.

Q: How much have you earn?
A: This apps limits your earning to $100, and yes, I’ve reached it.

Q: Why don’t you accept our friend request?
A: Sorry, I made my facebook just for fun and to keep contact with friends I truly know. So I’m sorry if I don’t accept your friend request. My apology. However, you can interact with me here right? :p

Q: Do you trust this promo?
A: I expect nothing.. If this one’s true, good for me.. If it’s a scam.. Oh well, I take it as a game :) .

Q: What is your link? I want to help you. :D
A: Mine is: http://apps.facebook.com/paypalwishlist/?ppref=622373960&ref=mf

Q: Do you have an analysis?
A: After using this apps for 3-4 days, I came to an analysis below,

  • There are 39,968 active user (23 November 2009 10:12 GMT+7) stated here.
  • This promotion started at November 16th 2009, it means it only took 6 days to get 39.968 users, to be simple the daily increment is: 6661 Users/day.
  • This promotion will end at December 31st 2009, it means it got 45 day-count. Given a daily increment of 6661 users/day (which may vary) we can assume there will be around 299.745 users who have installed the application by the end of the promotion.
  • Using a simple calculation, it means paypal has to pay
299.745 user x $1 for everyone who has installed the apps PLUS 299.744 referral x $1 for every referrer (parent) who successfully made refer somebody.
Note: $299.744 is a maximum number of referral that is possibly occurs if 1 person maximum earning is $100 but 1 person can refer MORE than 100 people. So the money that paypal has to spend for the referral is MUCH LESS than $299. 744. But let’s just play easy and take it as $299.744  :)
  • Final spending for this marketing campaign is around $599.489
  • Is this possible for paypal? Let’s see the next FAQ

Q: Do you think it’s possible that paypal really pays us on this promotion?
A: I don’t know but let’s do some math, PayPal is a subsidiaries of eBay (as stated here) so I’ll just go check the 2008 balance sheet for Ebay that you can found here. They said that for 2008 Sales & Marketing expense they spend $1.881.551.000 and this promotion *only* cost them $599.489 or 0.032% of their Sales & Marketing Expense. So… Do you think that paypal really pays us? Let time answers :)

Q: What are the other odds?
A: Maybe instead of giving us 100$ just like that, paypal gives us a discount for the items enlisted in our wish list with the amount of our earning :P ..

Q: Why does your English sucks?
A: Hehehe.. please correct any of my grammar mistakes and misspelling then.. :P

Final word:
“I do not guarantee anything, I’m just someone who do it for fun and willing to share! :)

I will not answer anymore question that has been answered here. Fair enough ok? :)

My apology for those who gets annoyed by me. I don’t want to be a spammer but I just want to share this information. Really sorry..

And if you feel that the information I provide here is good, please support using the links just below this post.. *wink wink* hahaha.. *just kidding*

Website

Website? Do we really know what is it? Banyak banget yang nanya kepada saya mengenai hal ini.

Hmm.. Let me put aside my “Salesman” point of view first and get on the academical point of view. After all, sharing knowledge is a power kan? hehehe.. :D

Based on my experience on handling various clients requests and needs, Kebanyakan orang masih bingung mengenai apa itu website? kebanyakan hanya mengerti, “Saya mau dibuatkan dot com dong”. Can’t blame them, kebanyakan penjelasan di internet itu teknikal banget.

Bahkan di website yang “jualan” website juga cuma tulis sekadarnya dengan bahasa teknis yang agak susah dimengerti. *wondering, kenapa ga sekalian aja jualan tulisnya: DISINI ADA SEDIA WEBSITE, PRES PROM THE OPEN =))*

Ok, let’s start our simple little non-technical explanation. Semoga aja bisa menolong anda mengetahui apa saja tentang website itu sebelum membelinya, Please.. by all means.. please.. give me a correction if any of my explanation is wrong. :) Read the rest of this entry »
